A HOLIDAY POEM

Hi pals!
We had a great evening last night remembering all our OTRB friends both furred and human. I am deeply grateful to everyone who helped out and to JinJi Doggy's Mommy who helped by loaning us her wonderful collage of our Angels.

Mum found this little poem that I wrote last year while she was rummaging today and I thought I would share it.

Holiday Time

Last year, bright holiday tidings came,
But found me outside in the snow.
Under a porch, behind a shrub,
Anywhere warm I could go.
My family had abandoned me
When they had been thrown out.
They left me, at five months old,
And said, 'you'll be all right.'

Were it not for the kindness of strangers,
To use a well worn phrase,
Last year's holiday season
Would have brought the end of my days.
But I was rescued, that is the happy tale,
Best of all: I found a real home:
I am safe, and loved, and fed, and warm,
And now, I have learned, there is more!

The bright holiday time has come 'round again,
And my house is all full of light!
Decorations and bows and candles and greens
It makes such a beautiful sight.
There are boxes and packages, stockings and cards,
And many are even for ME!
More toys? More treats? Good wishes from pals?
How lucky can one little cat be?

This year, I know, will be different.
This year the carols make sense.
I am grateful beyond all imagining,
And awed at the love I've been sent.
My wish is for all hearts to be
As happy and joy-filled as mine;
No fear, no hate, just peace and love
That's my wish this Christmas time.

NLB PIX AND DETAILS

WHEE! Sorry, pals.  Mum had to figure out the way to do this on an ipad/iphone platform. But she DID!

So here are some pictures to entice you. 

First, this is the collage of our OTRB pals. Please, if someone is missing, don't just tell me, send me a photo of that loved one and I paw promise to adjust the collage and inclide them. We tried to include everyone...

Is that not beautiful??? So many pals...but the purpose of this Ball is to celebrate their lives, and the joy that came from knowing them! To that end, we have some special noms and drinks for the evening!

Our venue is the spectacular NORTHERN LIGHTS BALLROOM:

As you see there is plenty of room for dancing as well, on the lovely dance floor with sub floor lighting and a big pink heart to show our love!

The signature drink for the evening will be the NORTHERN LIGHTS SPARKLER:

I cannot tell you what is in it, only that after a few sips you'll feel like you're dancing among the stars!

Additionally, of course, there will be some very special noms. Mum and I have been working with the AURORA CATERING COMPANY out of Hammerfest, Norway, to provide you with the finest in Arctic and Antarctic cuisine!

To begin, we have some Scandnavian Devilled Eggs...

And some gravlax salmon on crusty bread, with cream cheese and caviar!(we quite like caviar)...

Our main courses include Finnish Fish Pie, Russian Beef Stroganoff, blinis, pierogis, latkes, and a variety of other delicious noms!!!

Perhaps some Swedish Meatballs are more to your liking???

After all that food you can get a little excercise on our lovely dance floor, with DJs spinning your favorites and taking requests! Our DJs are...

Dinner, dancing, drinking under the Northern Lights to celebrate our OTRB pals...what else could we need???

Oh YEAH!!! Dessert!

A fabulous pastry buffet will be available all evening, along with coffee, tea and a very special catnip aquavit, to send you home smiling. 

Lingonberry pie, petites pots du chocolates with chocolate ganache cages and whipped cream, fruit and cream squares and butter shortbread cookies, just to higlight a few of the choices. 

So there you have it! Our NORTHERN LIGHTS BALL. Happening tomorrow, saturday, 19 December on Twitter at the virtual NORTHERN LIGHTS BALLROOM, from 4-10 pm eastern US time. Come for a dance, stop in for a drink or stay all night, but do make the NLB part of your holiday weekend activities. Honor, remember and celebrate our OTRB pals.

Meanwhile you all know that Mumwrote a bookabout my life as an abandoned kitten before I came to her, right? It has a happy ending and tho it isnt exactly a Christmas story i was abandoned just before Christmas and there is one really hearwrenching scene where I see a Christmas Tree in the house next door...but I cant give too much away. Below is the link to the book. It is in paperback and kindle on Amazon andthe money Mum makes from the book goes to help the shelter that rescued me and where Mumand I met!
